Heights Park

Walked along the creek at Heights Park today. The sun was warm, and the water was barely moving. There was so much trash all along the creek and everywhere near the banks, too.

Cedar Ridge Preserve

Today I hiked at the nature preserve again. It was very warm. There were loads of people all around. The light was beautiful.

Lyon Arboretum, Honolulu

Walked up the rain forest path at the Lyon Arboretum near Honolulu. The waterfall was so beautiful. It rained and I stepped in a lot of mud holes. The most fun I have had in ages and so relaxing. Great sense of accomplishment to find my way and not get injured or bitten by insects, etc.

Possumhaw Trail

Walked at the Cedar Ridge Preserve again yesterday. Easy half mile trail. Little climbing. Pretty woods with some of the biggest trees I had seen in the area. Only ran into a couple of people on the trail, too. And one cute guy.

Walked at Cedar Ridge Preserve again today. There was a light rain. Not a lot of people out today. Beautiful wildflowers everywhere.

Breckinridge Park

This time I took the path on the other side of the creek. It was a little warm and there was no breeze. The light was from the east, so I saw the opposite of what I saw last time when walked there in the late afternoon on the west side of the creek.

Cedar Brake Trail

Hiked today down the cattail trail then back up the Cedar Brake Trail today at the Cedar Ridge Preserve near Duncanville, Texas. I love that place. So peaceful. This is the third time that I have been.

Easy hike today in Plano, Texas. It was hot. I saw a cute mouse near the trail. There were so many wildflowers in bloom, some that I had never seen before. Found some cool rocks by the creek. Walked at the beach near Oceanside in Oregon with some friends.

Had a business trip to Oregon last week. Flew into Salem, drove to Bend, worked in Sunriver, drove to Portland. I walked a little. During the two long drives, I saw some of the most beautiful scenery that I have ever seen in my life. There was no way to stop and take photos of all of it. These were some berries from the side of the road when I stopped to stretch my legs.

Botanical Gardens

Walked at the Botanical Gardens at Fort Worth again today. It was a warm day, but I stayed in the shade. It was interesting comparing the summer forest to the same places where I had walked this winter. Since I went early this morning, there were not that many people around. I saw a lot of birds. The sad thing is that I could hear the road the whole time and smell the exhaust of cars the whole time.

Hiked down to the creek again

Today I hiked down to Rowlett Creek via Oak Point Park in Plano, Texas. This is a nature preserve that I had never visited before. It was an easy hike, although I did slip in the mud a little. I saw a beautiful big white crane, and the biggest yellow swallowtail butterfly that I have ever seen in my life. I also heard a large crash in the woods that I didn't stick around to investigate. Two Saturdays ago, I walked around my parents' property and saw this cool nest in their climbing rose bush. It is a cardinal's nest. That is my Dad's hand helping hold back the rose so that I could get the picture.

Las Vegas last week

Last week I walked all over Las Vegas. Friday, most of the walking was indoors. Saturday, I walked all over the Strip and explored. This picture was taken from the fake Eiffel tower there.

Indiana rainy walk

Back on new year's eve 2006, I walked/climbed with friends up to Prophet's Rock in Indiana. It was a mild, rainy day.

I had never been to Indiana before. I was glad the world was not frozen.

Walked Around Granny's Cauldron

Today was unseasonably cold, with a few snow flurries. I visited my parents and walked around their back garden. There were loads of bluebonnets to admire in the front and back, along with other wildflowers. My Dad constructed the cauldron stand. Granny's cauldron has had a very large crack for as long as I can recall.

Walked at the Cedar Ridge Preserve today. A vigorous 3 mile hike. I saw a cute lizard, a tarantula, and a lot of beautiful butterflies and birds.

Stretching

We had stopped to watch these street performers in New Orleans on Sunday after lunch. By this point, I had walked so much that my blisters had blisters. I would have enjoyed sitting to watch the performance, but where we had chosen to stop was right where someone had recently vomited.

My feet still hurt. The mosquitos were biting, too.

Saturday walk in New Orleans

I walked in New Orleans on Saturday to join my customers for a dinner in the French Quarter. I passed this zombie and had to take a picture. I wish he didn't have that modern hat on, but maybe it was part of his original ensemble. I have a lot of blisters from walking. I threw away those shoes today when I arrived back home, because they are ruined and disgusting and painful.

Walked in New Orleans tonight. This isn't a
spectacular picture, but it shows what I saw.
I also saw a strange coyote or wild dog when a train came through near the "Riverwalk" shopping area. I couldn't get a picture of him.

I walked around the neighborhood you see here down from the convention center. It was a beautiful night.

Then, I walked around a casino and watched people and listened to a live band. I had a relaxing evening. Now, I get to work the next two days.

Walked around Rowlett Creek today. I didn't realize that this park was in the same town where I am living now. I hope to come back here again soon. It was peaceful, and the water sounded so nice. There weren't too many people around, either.

This is the courthouse there, since it is the county seat. Today, I could hear organ music coming from the courthouse. Not sure if it was a ghostly organ, recorded music being piped out from somewhere, or rehearsal, as the courthouse may have been converted to a performance hall recently. Before I walked across the road to take this picture, I had spotted this cute father and daughter team placing a stuffed animal in trees and potted plants. The little girl was taking pictures of her stuffed animal, and of other random things around the square. The dad was smiling from embarrassment and hiding the stuffed animal under his jacket in between shots. The little girl was so excited that she was jumping up and down. I wanted to take a picture of them, but I didn't. I still feel like jumping up and down, sometimes. I probably still embarrass my dad, too.

fairgrounds walk

Walked today around the Texas state fairgrounds. It was a cold day, but the sun was very bright. I have been on this ferris wheel once before.
I tried to go to the planetarium there at fair park, but I was too late for the last show. Instead, I went to the small inadequate aquarium. Then, I walked around the small lake there and looked at some green bubbling algae.

Seattle blur

Even though this picture is blurry, I liked it enough to keep it. Walked all over Seattle today. Feet are tired and blistered. The arboretum was lovely, especially the woods - even though I could hear the road no matter where I was in the park. This prevented me from getting lost. Every time I found a placard with a map showing "you are here," I took a picture of it.

activities for tonight and tomorrow. Home Sunday. Doesn't really count as a "walk," but I walked
to the window and fought through the layers of curtains to get this shot.

Walked downtown today. Saw a lady selling rides in a horse drawn carriage for only $5.00 US. That seemed like a good bargain to me, but I was not in the mood. I visited the museum of art. There was a giant head of a rain god in there. I think this is why it has not rained in so long. Free the rain god. His name was Tlaloc. There were two sacred frogs found with him as well, but the story with the items made it sound as if it was not certain, as if they were "supposedly" found together. I looked at the rain god's head and I felt sad for him. I could be one of those people to make up stuff about things that are found from the ancient world. I think I will find some things and make up stuff about them and post it here on my blog even.

one forest walk

I walked in the forest Sunday. It smelled so good. I heard someone else walking ahead of me, but I could not see who it was. This time of year, you cannot walk in the forest without being heard. First, I glimpsed a red coat and then long brown hair. There was a girl walking in the forest ahead of me, and she wanted to be alone. I deliberately walked to the far left when she chose a path to the right.
